Virtual Box Office, San Jose Downtown Association Partner to Deliver Exciting Weekend of Festivities

Following a one-year absence, San Jose Downtown Association’s Music in the Park Festival turned to Virtual Box Office to usher in a new era for the acclaimed production’s 25th anniversary.

On July 20 in San Jose’s St. James Park, concert goers were treated to an exquisite night of entertainment that was crowned by a performance from the extremely talented and popular group Ozomalti. The Los Angeles-based group rose to fame when its single “Saturday Night” was featured in the Madden NFL 2005 video game.

The following day lived up to Friday’s experience, as the 33rd annual Fountain Blues Fest rocked the crowd with a night of legendary artists including John Mayall and Ruthie Foster.

VBO personally handled all ticket sales, and was physically on-location both nights with its affordable VBO Touch Software and VBO Barcode Scanning Technology to make sure the weekend’s festivities went off without a hitch.

“Virtual Box Office and Music in the Park Festival representatives discussed the 25th anniversary of the event and its specific needs, which enabled VBO to identify cases of point that were critical to the success of marketing Friday’s festival and the deployment of relevant ticketing strategies,” said VBO co-founder David Boehme. “Together, VBO and the San Jose Downtown Association (SJDA) collaborated to execute a triumphant experience for the patrons that attended.”

Music in the Park started in 1989 as an eight-week, Friday lunchtime series in Plaza de Cesar Chavez in San Jose. The series moved to Thursday evenings in 1990, eventually growing to 13 concerts. From 1998 to 2008, Music in the Other Park was produced in St. James Park in June ahead of the Plaza Park season. In all, SJDA produced 258 free shows featuring acts such as Tower of Power, Smash Mouth, Maroon 5, Eek-A-Mouse and Greg Kihn.
